Darul Arqam Southeast
Arrival and Dismissal Procedure
2010-2011
Welcome to the start of a new school year at Darul Arqam Southeast. Your child’s safety is our primary concern, so therefore we have established the following arrival and dismissal procedure.
Arrival – School starts at 7:45 am
• Students can enter the building from the side parking lot entrance or the masjid front door entrance.
• Parents are permitted to walk their child in either entrance and leave them in the community hall.
• Parents are not allowed to park directly in front of the parking lot door entrance.
• Students may not be dropped off before 7:45 am because there is no supervision at that time.
• The parking lot and daycare entrances close at 7:45 a.m. because of assembly. After 7:45a.m. Students must enter through the masjid front door entrance only.
Parents Drive-Thru
• The drive-thru doors are open from 7:35 am to 7:45 am and 3:15 pm to 3:30 pm.
• A teacher will escort children inside the building in the morning and outside in the afternoon.
Late Arrival
Students that arrive after assembly (8:00 am) must obtain a late slip from the office in order to enter class.
Class Visits
- Parents are not allowed to visit a classroom without a scheduled appointment. Unscheduled visits are a distraction to the entire class and are not permitted.
Dismissal-School ends at 3:15 p.m.
• Students will be dismissed from the side parking lot entrance only. The community hall doors will be locked.
• Parents are not permitted to block the exit doors.
• Children that are picked up must remain with their parents and are not allowed to roam inside the building.
• Students that are not picked up by 3:30 p.m. will be escorted to the daycare. An adult must sign out the child and pay a late pick-up fee.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding while we strive to provide a safe environment for students and staff.

Student Assessment Division About the Student Assessment Program
For
more than 25 years, Texas has had a statewide student assessment
program. Over time, changes to state and federal statute as well as to
the state-mandated curriculum, currently the Texas Essential Knowledge
and Skills (TEKS), have required the Texas Education Agency to expand
the state assessment program, making it more inclusive of and
accessible to all student groups. Whether students are served through
general education, special education, or bilingual/English as a Second
Language programs, the state tests provide a snapshot of the degree to
which students are learning the TEKS. As a result of this snapshot,
students can receive the additional help they need to strengthen their
knowledge and skills in core academic areas; and districts and campuses
can evaluate the effectiveness of their instructional programs. In this
way, the state assessment program plays an important role in helping
all students—no matter what their instructional setting—reach their
academic potential.
Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) TAKS
measures a student’s mastery of the state-mandated curriculum, the
Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). TAKS is administered for
* Grades 3–9 reading * Grades 3–10 and exit level mathematics * Grades 4 and 7 writing * Grade 10 and exit level English language arts (ELA) * Grades 5, 8, 10, and exit level science * Grades 8, 10, and exit level social studies
TAKS
includes an accommodated form called TAKS (Accommodated) for students
served by special education who meet the eligibility requirements for
certain specific accommodations. The TAKS (Accommodated) form includes
format accommodations (larger font, fewer items per page, etc.) and
contains no embedded field-test items. |

Darul Arqam uses a curriculum based on the Texas
Essentials of Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) directives set by the State
of Texas. All textbooks are approved by the Texas Education Agency
(TEA). The Arabic curriculum by Arabist Dr. Hosny Kandil is optimized
for non-Arabic speakers. Student academic proficiency is regularly measured and charted utilizing the state-mandated TAKS exams as well as IOWA Test of Basic Skills. |
